I’ve been rocking to this song for a while now. Powerful progressive house with great vocals. A definite feel good, hands in the air type song. If you haven’t heard of Swanky Tunes, get on it. They have been getting a ton of love from SHM and Laidback Luke.
Who is Bailey Smalls you may ask? Well, honestly I don't really know either, but he just laid a sick remix to the forever house anthem 'Calling'. Not your traditional trap sound but wait for 1:30 to hit and I lost it- I personally see the trap influence coming in hot for EDM music with awesome bass and in this songs case, really smooth synths.
Absolute banger from Swedish big guns AN21 and Max Vangeli and the king of dance music himself, Tiesto. As the title track from their much anticipated album set to drop next month, there was much hype about this track which saw the meeting of three absolute massive producers and a build up lasting almost 12 months if I’m correct. However, the track has more than delivered with a flawless combination of beautiful vocals from Lover Lover, along with lovely instrumental work, employing a range a strings and anthemic synths as well the ever-present vocal used at times as just a sample to a great effect. The track is set to be an absolute chart-killer, and certainly fulfills speculation that their album is going to be one of the biggest events of the year.
If you have the taste for some more massive electro madness, Tommy Trash just released his forthcoming remix of The Veldt by Deadmau5 on. Tommy Trash absolutely kills it with this banger tune by giving it a very uplifting synth that changes the vibe of the song completely. With the added unique signature sound of Tommy Trash, characterized by the ripping hard bass lines, this is definitely a remix to look out for! Maintaining the vocals, Trash adds a previously missing power to the track that converts it into a festival anthem. While I’m not prepared to make a direct comparison between original and remix, as they both shine in their own right, I really do highly rate both renditions as successful outings for these two successful producers.
R3hab has a style known as “chainsaw madness”, with heavy baselines and impressive synth play, the Dutchman has forged an indelible mark on the EDM world of today, becoming the remixer to the stars. With this effort, he continues in this vein with an impressive remix of the latest tune from Scotsman Calvin Harris and English singer/rapper example. Check this one out now.
With every great DJ who comes along, usually there is a plethora of younger DJs who they bring up with them. For Afrojack, recently seeing sense and ditching Paris Hilton, the younger performers he chose to bring up were undoubtedly Dutch musical prodigies Shermanology. Incredibly talented, Can’t Stop Me was one of the most eagerly anticipated tunes of this year, and showcased the collective group’s incredible talents. However, here the tune is remixed by R3hab and a young Dyro both seeking to continue their impressive outlay of electro house smashes. With R3hab already sitting at the top table of EDM talent, it is impressive to see him joining forces to help younger talent to shine as well. Dyro is definitely one to look out for, check this one out now.
I must say one thing: remixing a song of this status is bold. Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Dada Life’s ”Kick Out The Epic Motherf*cker” is as epic as they come, so why toy with that? Clearly, Otto Knows feels differently and his edit comes at a perfect time, right when the track may be losing a step or two. With a new breakdown and drop, yet the same ridiculously hyped up vocal sample of “Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker!” that we’ve all come to know, we see this tracks shelf life double right before our eyes. Otto Knows follows up his beloved ‘Million Voices’ with another masterpiece.
What a night in NYC a few weeks back. At 9:15pm, the stage display raised to reveal Aoki. As usual, Aoki amped up the crowd with his hits going from “Steve Jobs” into “Turbulence”, followed by “Ladi Dadi” with Tommy Trash’s flavoring, and of course, “Warp”. It was a typical Aoki concert that included cakes, champagne, water bottles, rafts, and even Aoki himself was flung into the crowd. A new collaborative track between Steve Aoki and Knife Party was also dropped about mid-way through his set and the crowd’s reaction was pretty wild.
The highlight of the night had to be when Aoki and Duran Duran got together to do a live remix of “Hungry Like the Wolf”.
We would like to thank Trident, Steve Aoki and Duran Duran for an incredible night.
